Default Silent Dreams Due to Brain Anomalies

Hi:

Is it possible for a non-deaf person to have totally-silent dreams
[like watching TV on "mute"] due to an abnormality in his/her brain? I
imagine in those who are deaf due to damage to parts of their brains
would be just as deaf in their dreams as during wake -- even if the
deafness is non-congenital [i.e. it could happen in a perfectly healthy
adult in his/her mid 20s who previously had no difficulty in hearing].
AFAIK, the parts of the brain that perceive sounds in our dreams are
the same as the parts of the that perceive actual sounds. So, IIRC, if
the deafness is due to brain anomaly, the dreams will be just as silent
as the real world.

Thanks a lot,

Radium

I thought most peoples dreams are silent, I am not concious
of sound in my dreams but conversations occur they are just
not percieved as sound.

This may seem a little unusual in my case as I had a
schizophrenic episode in the past where I had distinctive
and loud auditory hallucinations. However my dreams are silent
I think if they were noisy they'd wake me up.

Dreams use vision mostly, the second-most-prominent sense is hearing,
then you have tacticle sensation that maybe present but hardly
occuring. AFAIK, no dreams ever contain odors or physical pain.

Interestingly, there is also the sense of balance in dreams or during
certain stages of sleep. Some may experience a sensation as if they are
tumbling on stairs and this will cause them to awaken. I sometimes get
this when I am half asleep.

Strangely, sleep-paralysis seems to be accompanied -- at least
sometimes -- by sharp limb pain that occurs when the subject tries to
move.
