Default question for ladies with panic disorder (panic zoloft anxiety birth control menstruation)

Hi ladies,

I am baffled by what is happening to me right now. My second week on
zoloft I seemed to be responding well to the influx of medication. Nothing
more than low level anxiety. This week I raised the dose to 100 mg and
the panic attacks became uncontrollable. I think there is a correlation
between my oncoming period and this increase in panic attacks. I expect
my period to start in a day or two and I looked for correlations online. I
was a ble to find an article confirming my beleifs. My question to you
is: DO YOU NOTICE AN INCREASE AND FREQUENCY OF PANIC ATTACKS BEFORE YOU
ARE ABOUT TO MESNSTRUATE? I am thinking this is definatley the cause as i
cannot think of another. I also believe I didn't go through this with my
last relapse because I was taking the birth control depo provera and my
menstruation hadd ceased. Now I'm on the regular pill and menstruating as
usual. Please let me know if this has happened to you as it will greatly
relieve my fears about whether my illness is progressing or just
accacerbated by my pre-menstral state. Thanks,

Always,
AD

Default question for ladies with panic disorder (panic anxiety)

Absolutely. I've always had PMS anyway, it just exacerbates the anxiety.

My periods are weird because I was on Risperdal for a long time and that
stopped my periods altogether (Yay!!) but I am beginning to have them again,
and I get PA's right before and on the first couple of days of my period.

Default question for ladies with panic disorder (panic anxiety hysterectomy)

Hi, AD,
I agree with Sara. PMS seems to exacerbate the anxiety and tension in our
bodies. I had a hysterectomy in '95 and don't have to deal with this
anymore...YEAH!!!
smiles,
Elise

Absolutely, 100% yes and beyond a shadow of a doubt!!! I have PMS which is
emotional baggage in itself. On top of that, I get panic attacks and 'am
very emotional to boot. For a while, I even tried upping my Celexa from 20
mgs. to 30 mgs. for the week before my PMS week. I did notice a slight
improvement, but it was too hard to remember when to take the dosage
increase. Now I use CBT to get me through the "bad week".

As someone as says in this news group... "you're not alone"!!!

I notice it sometimes but not always. But an interesting fact for me is that
I had my very first panic attack just days before my very first period at
age 14.
