Default bipolar, psychiatric meds, and pregnancy

On 13 Aug 2003 09:44:07 -0700, lifeisaspiral@yahoo.com (Lea Ann) etched
permanently into the ether:

You need to discuss this issue with your doctor(s). Here is a search result I
got from google, searching on the words "pregnancy, bipolar, medications"

My best wishes for an uneventful pregnancy.

Default bipolar, psychiatric meds, and pregnancy

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post. Currently, I am
taking Depakote ER, Zyprexa, Trazodone, and Seroquel, plus Levothroid
for hypothyroidism. I am not pregnant . . . yet but would like to be.
However, if it is going put stress and undue suffering on the baby
during pregnancy and after birth, then, I will feel obligated to try
adoption first. I'd hate to have my child suffer some heart
abnormality, maybe lifethreatening. But I would love any child. I have
been stable on my medications for two years. I read that sometimes the
psychiatric meds can be as bad as babies born to the mothers that used
cocaine, etc., during pregnancy. Is this relatively true? I am not
married presently but you never know when the question might arise.
And if the man I marry wants children, I would like to be honest with
him about what to expect. I will continue to do research. I am trying
to see what options are available to me. I appreciate your time! :0)
