Which harms citizens more, amalgamitis, or asbestosis and
mesothelioma?

An interesting question! I was immediately tempted to take the
position that a "real" disease harms more than an imagined disease, but I am
willing to bet that a shrink would take serious issue with that notion.

It seems to be my fate to always be around people with lung problems
(wife you know about, mother died of TB/asthma) and I am certainly more
sensitive to the danger of lung diseases than the average person. I have a
good friend in the hospital this week with lung damage apparently caused
from a home cleaning project. His condition is terrifying. You ARE what
you BREATHE!

Well some people can be exposed to asbestos and never develop cancer, some
people do.
Some people can be exposed to mercury and show no toxicity, whereas some do.

If you are talking absolutes...
Exposure to no asbestos is safe
Exposure to no mercury is safe.

Incorrect. All persons exposed to a sufficiently large dose of mercury will
suffer toxic effects. At sufficiently low doses, none of those exposed will
be harmed. There is some variability in the dose threshold from person to
person, but the difference is not large.

The biggest difference is that mesothelioma and asbestosis take years
sometimes decades and always move inexexorably towards death.

Amalgam poisoning can be improved overnight. Jan Drew almost died yet
the very next day she felt much better and jumped off her deathbed to
go Line Dancing .......

Of course you cannot do this without the help of a g-o-o-o-o-d
alt.practitioner who can SELL you your medicine.

UM, so rich, you do not think a sufficiently large "dose" of asbestos will
suffer from it? Interesting............
