Default smart media cards

WHAT????
I just called our local camera/photography shop to check on if they had any
Smart Media cards (I had bought one there a couple years ago for my camera).
He told me that they aren't making them anymore as they are "old
technology". I think he is an idiot, as I just bought 2 at Costco a couple
weeks ago, BUT has anyone else heard this?

That's what my JVC uses too. I guess I'd better buy another one!

While they won't be developing any larger or faster ones, I anticipate that
they'll continue to produce at least some of the present line as long as
there are customers. After all, they've already got the tooling and
development done, so other than material and production costs, it's just
about pure profit at this point.

I just got home from Costco where I bought 2 more cards. Actually, I wish
they would make some with smaller capacity, and a cheaper price! 32 MB is
more than enough for my needs, and all I can find are 128 MB.

How nice that the 5 Olympus digital records I just bought now have a card
that they aren't making any more. Ain't that just my luck.
