It's a GO! :-) (follicle down)
That's if everything falls into place, hopefully! :-)
Visited the RE this morning, a friend kept Maya for me.
I wound up being an hour early because I forgot to write
down the appt. time. :-)
When I got to see him, Dr. D., he had my records (about
2 inches thick, LOL!) in front of him. He asked me how
I was, and I showed him some pictures of Maya and told him
she wants to be a big sister. :-) He asked a few questions,
but mostly went with the FSH and E2 levels, he said they
were pretty good for my age (43). Told me the only way to see
if I have any eggs left is to jump right into the water
and do an IVF cycle...explained that he uses different
protocols now for low responders like me, and talked about
the schedule. First on cd1, start bcps (funny how we were
just talking about those the other day), he said for 10
days, which shouldn't really cause any problems since they
are a low dosage...I'll need to have a saline sonogram done
(doesn't sound bad at all, they do it there in the office),
also I'd be on Antigon(sp?), I've read about others taking
it, doesn't sound too bad either. Then of course u/s's and
blood draws to check E2 levels and follicle sizes...then
the profasi and then retrieval and transfer (oops, I forgot
to ask if he is still doing 3 day transfers but I think so).
DH needs to have a SA done to make sure he doesn't have any
problems. I hope he doesn't, since he's been smoking for
several years now on the sly, I hope it hasn't affected those
little swimmers! :-O I also have to fill out a bunch of
paperwork for the hospital's ARTS dept. plus send off forms
to insurance to have everything predetermined/prequalified/
precertified/whatever it's called nowadays where the ins.
co. okays the treatment. So, that's only a few rings to
jump through, LOL.
Dr. D. laughed when I told him I was actually looking forward
to shots again! :-) I'm a weirdo. But I just hate all the
not knowing, you know? He said if the cycle turned out that
I only had one or two follicles, then we'd switch to a very
controlled IUI, so the cycle wouldn't be wasted. Since I did
get pg once on an IUI, there's always a chance I could again,
with the right timing. So there's a lot of hope here. :-)
So now I've got to wait for mean ol' AF to show up with her
suitcase so we can get this show on the road! DH doesn't
want to have to deal with all the paperwork this time around
because his workload has gotten really busy the past week or
so, but that's fine with me. I had to push and push last time
when he dawdled, and now we have Maya. So I don't mind taking
the reins now! :-)
Anyway, think happy thoughts, prayers, good wishes for us, and
I'll keep you updated, of course! :-)
Love,
Carolyne in TX
