oversensitive skin

Hi,
I am 42 years old and have had a (skin?)disorder all my life. My skin
is extreme oversensitive, hypersensitive. Not oversensitive for
certain specific substances or chemicals, but literally oversensitive.
You could say that my sensitiveness-treshold is too low. For example,
whereas a normal person doesn't notice and feel the seams in his
clothes I do feel them with every movement I make. And not only the
seams. Every form of pressure by clothes on my skin is very
unpleasant.
Until about fifteen years ago the problem was manageable but since
then it has gotten worse and worse. Over the years I successively had
to stop wearing T-shirts, sweaters and finally shirts with long
sleeves. Since 6 years I only wear a summershirt with short sleeves,
summer and winter. I have similar problems with the trousers I wear.
It has been increasingly difficult to find anything that I can wear,
even silk clothes didn't help. In the winter I don't go out of the
house anymore, except to go to work and for occasions that can not be
avoided.
I am really quite desperate.
Since 1988 I have seen various dermatologists and other medical
specialists, none of which has been able to give a diagnosis. So
unfortunately I have no name for my disorder. The only visible symptom
is some redness on my chest. Is it a skindisorder? Or is it a
neurologic disorder? Or something else? I have tried many treatments
and medicines but nothing really helped. I also tried alternative
medicine but also without result. At the moment I take a medicine
called neurontin, wich has some effect, but makes me sleepy and dazed.
Is there anybody with the same disorder or who has heard of it before?
Is there anybody with helpful information for me, whatever it may be?
Please let me know!
Thanks,
Waldo
