Default Question on "Atarax" / Hydroxyzine (itching)

Atarax is an old medication and has very few side effects. I have not seen
addiction to this. It is especially used for itching in kids.

Default Question on "Atarax" / Hydroxyzine

difference in my sleeping. I have gone from 3-4 hours a night to 7-9 and I
feel 200% better. My question is, what are the long term effects of this drug.

Yes only at night. I tried terazadone (sp) for a couple of nights but it
made me to dopy and forgetful (took only at noght too) during the day and
was unsafe for my profession to be like that. Took days for it to wear off
too.

The Aterax makes me have a bit of a harder time getting out of bed but
compared to staring at the alarm clock for 2 hours awaiting 3am to get up
and drag through the day I feel the *normal* "I dont want to get up" in the
morning may be a good trade off for the increased sleep time.

I am really kinda jazzed about this. Insomnia bites, had it for about 2
years now

Thanks for the responses everyone Robin

Default Question on "Atarax" / Hydroxyzine (ativan xanax anxiety allergy itching)

Vistaril should not inflict any long term effects. It is not physically addicting like the benzodiazepines (restoril, valium, ativan, xanax, etc). Vistaril (hydroxyzine) is given daily in hospitals over the world to potentiate narcotics (to increase their potency cheaply). Twenty five milligrams is a low dose (the highest capsule is 100 mg) so do not worry about it. I have taken it many times for itching and insomnia without any problems whatsoever (it is also used for alcohol withdrawal).

All I can find is that it is a allergy pill, anti-anxiety, and insomnia drug. (all of which I have been suffering from for one reason or another). I am taking very low dosages (according to RN wife at 25 mg) and am considering cutting that in half to see if it works

Thanks all, I hope everyone has a nice day

Robin
