Functional methods against IBS are…
(1) *** REST AND RELAXATION ***
If one accepts to lead a slower and more withdrawn life then this
illness becomes manageable, whereas if you try to lead an ambitious
life in society, then it’s tougher. It is clearly beneficial if you
can lie down and rest during 20 minutes in the middle of the day. One
ought to find a method that allows one to sit down and rest during
waking time. It could force one to adopt a more spiritual orientation
in life. If you like to write and “philosophize”, then its a big
To lie in the bathtub listening to music is a very good method (add
salt to the water). It is beneficial to go for long walks, because it
has a relaxing effect. But the general recommendation is this: slow
down your life! Perhaps this is good for your soul too.
(2) *** REMOVE FOOD PRODUCTS THAT IRRITATE THE BOWELS ***
A good brand of instant coffee is often good, but avoid regular
coffee. Avoid pasta and rice. Potato is much better. Eat pure rye
bread without added ingredients. Rye (black) bread does not irritate
the bowels like white bread. Barley is also better than wheat.
Sausage, low in fat, without skin, is good to put on the bread. Rape
oil is much better than butter.
Avoid leathery meat. The best form of meat is chicken sausage (without
skin). It is low in fat and it’s the perfect food for IBS patients.
Lactose reduced milk is better than regular milk. Avoid cheese. But
hazlenuts and almonds are very good food. Avoid most vegetables and
fruit. Drink berry juice without added sugar instead. Drink red tea
(Rooibos) but not regular tea. Pressed tomato juice is good. If it’s
too strong, then you can water it down, or you can mix it with milk,
heat it and drink together with a little salt (that’s tomato soup).
Avoid fish, eat Omega-3 fish oil pills instead (EPActive, for
Medications? Possibly the diclofenac type of medicament works, if you
eat perhaps a third (or half) of a pill each other day (diclofenac
potassium), but I am not at all certain. Alternatively you could try a
pill if you feel worse only. It is really designed against migraine.
Otherwise it’s hard to find anything that works properly against IBS.
Remember that IBS could really be a family name of several different
diseases, so it’s not certain that my advice works for your particular

It is probable that one cause of IBS is Persistent Environmental
Pollutants (PEPs) like PCBs, dioxins, pesticides, herbicides,
fungicides, heavy metals, etc. Many PEPs activate or exacerbate the
Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor (AhR) mediated cellular detoxification
pathways which also interacts with many flavoniods in common foods, ie
cruciferous veggies and citrus. In particular, TCDD, a dioxin, is the
most potent activator, several thousands of times stronger than
broccoli. TCDD isn’t detoxed efficiently, resulting in continous
production of detox enzymes which causes cellular stress. In addition,
the detox enzymes can convert other PEPs and endogenous estrogens into
intermediates that can damage cell’s DNA. Most people have acquired
their current levels of PEPs via the consumption of dietary fats
during the past 2 or 3 decades. TCDD has a half life of 10 years in
the human body. Even though governments have been reducing TCDD
levels, especially in animal fats, watch out for farm-raised fish.
