Sixteen days ago I lost my son Harley Joseph Morris due to an
incompetent cervix. He was 15 and weeks old and absolutely perfect!
One of my Dr.’s had mentioned her concern about me having possible
cervical incompetence and was going to send me for a sonogram on 8/28;
however, my appointment was cancelled by the office and postponed to
Sept. 2nd. On the morning of Aug. 31, I delivered Harley. Had I gone
to the Dr.’s on the 28th, as scheduled, could things have gone
differently??? Oh yeah, the same office called me on the 2nd to
reschedule again, I had to inform them that I didn’t need the
appointment anymore, the Dr. at the hospital had said she would take
care of it..hmph.
So I went yesterday for my two week check up and the Dr. who saw me
didn’t even mention the IC, I had to tell him that’s what happened
based on the test at the hospital, my history of laser and
cryo-surgery on my cervix etc… He then tells me that next time I
will want to make sure to bring this up to them around the 12th-13th
week if they have not mentioned it to me yet. I am just a bit
confused here, isn’t that what medical records are for, I would
assume they keep them so that they can refer to them. Anyway, I got
the name of the perintologist that works with the practice and am
hoping to see about him being my Dr. during the next pregnancy, has
anyone done this? Do you think he will do it? Oh boy, I continue to
be completely devastated!
Can you all please share with me success stories, similar situations,
advise for dealing with the Dr.’s? Should I contact the hospital and
make sure they retain the results from my U/S when I was in the ER and
they measured my cervix and checked how dilated I was, would this be
useful for the next time? Ok, I know I am asking a lot but I have
done TONS of research over the past two weeks and just have some
lingering things that I’d like to find out. I appreciate you taking
the time to read my message!
