Default Confused about Winsock! Please help!



I am currently developing an Internet Cafe application. My server is
going to be on one machine. I need to create a connection for the
clients to connect. Im really confused about Winsock, can i use it for
this?? Should i use one or two Winsocks in my application?? Any advice
at all would be appreciated, have never done anything like this!

Thats is what winsock are made for actually !! So yes, you can use it for
"that"
..........could you be more specific of what kind of "connection" you want
to create..........what is the purpose of your program ??

Firstly, thanks for replying!! well I have the administrator machine
connected to the database and have data coming to and from that, but I
need some sort of connection between the client and the administrator.
For example when the client logs on, it will need to check that they
are a member from the database in order for them to log on, also the
member will be able to place an order which will have to check the
database that there is such an item in the database and then inform the
administrator of the order. But that bit is a log way off yet....is
that helpful?

If you can do this using some kind of web development platform, you'll
have a much easier time. Look at things like PHP and ColdFusion.

I believe so. Visual basic includes all that .NET junk. Learning how to
use the tools Microsoft provides, regardless of how ugly they might be, will
be a lot less effort than learning network connections from the bottom up.
