Erasing Files

Hi,
Not sure if this is the best discussion group but I am selling my pc and
have deleted files and then emptied the trash. Is there a better way to
erase all personal files on the pc so when the new person gets it they won't
find them storred on the PC.

Any help greatly appreciated.
