Default Installing Windows XP

This is because your installed Windows has updated itself with a service
pack, so when you access the CD it checks the version and sees that it is
newer than the CD. The only way around this is to boot to the CD and install
XP to a different folder, or to format the hard drive and start fresh. If
you can, I highly recommend starting fresh, but backup your data first. I
guess a third option would be to slipstream the service pack and install it
that way by making your own CD.

Just make yourself a Slipstreamed XP/SP2 CD to get around that.
