If you run a lot of programmes at the same time, or programmes that need
a lot of resources (video treatment for example) then it will make quite
a difference but if it is just average stuff, word processing, the net,
a little bit of image treatment etc then you won't notice muchspeed
increase. 1Gb is usually comfortable enough for most people (supposing
XP) so 2 gives you plenty of leeway. In any case it most certainly won't
make your machine run slower.

Yes you can put in too much memory in 32 bit Windows, which most of us
have. There is a point where Windows does not use any more and
actually can slow things down. It is around the 3 gig range for most 2
or more year older pcs'. Your motherboard may also have 'issues' when
adding too much, so always check its specs.
