Default Login halts

My problem recently is that if one of us at home logs of and the computer is
idle for a while and I decide to log back on the password box is opened but
no curser or ability to input my password. A reboot fixes it but surely this
is something I could fix so a reboot is not required.
Hopeful for a quick fix

Next time you run into this problem try the old "Control-Alt-Delete"
sequence and see if a new window opens asking for a username and password.
I have sometimes had to hit the three key sequence twice in a row to bring
up a new login window.

Since you are not logged in when you do the three key sequence the "Windows
Task Manager" window will not open. If it does I suspect you will find that
a someone else was still logged into the machine.

Why the problem occurs I don't know but I suspect a keyboard or mouse driver
issue. Give this a try and see how it gets you going with out a reboot
being needed. In my case it happens so rarely I have not troubled myself in
tracking down the actual cause.
