Default Two problems-please help

hi,
I have a zv5255, when I try to reload windows it will copy all the drivers
into memory and when it gets to "starting windows" it just stops, freezes.
HD is ok i loaded windows on it with another laptop, but it had a intell
processer, the 5255 has a amd. It seems to me it should start up with the
installed windows all ready on it since I didn't install anything from the
driver recovery disk, but when windows starts I get a blue scren with a page
of information, but it flashes so fast i can't read it, then reboots. safe
mode no good either, same thing.
I could sure use a little help if anyone knows whats wrong, I think it might
be the bios, ver is f.11, hp site lists all previous versions and f.11 isn't
listed.
if that is what's wrong, hp only offers a winflash version and i would need
to reload bios with floppy. How can i get the bios out of the winflash
program.Please, anyone, help!!!

also I have a ze4500 that seems to have lost it's registry string for help
and support and it will not start, tried to load a previous reg, but all are
corrupt.anyone know how i can get it back without a complete restore?
I would greatly appreicate any and all help.

William,
I've googled zx5255 and it's an HP laptop.
Are you saying that you installed windows on an Intel laptop, then
transferred the disk to the HP 5255 with an AMD?
Won't
a) the wrong drivers will have been selected for the peripherals (screen,
ether, etc)?
b) the licensing check which involves a calculation on processor number and
the key you supply at install time will fail?

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?
Phil

Hi Phil,
you have it mostly correct, however, I did not install the driver package so
everything is off the windows disk, which should boot, any way, even if i
boot from the windows disk and try to reinstall, it will load up all the
basic drivers and get to the point where it says "starting windows", and
freeze.
I think the previous owner had windows ME loaded, and thats why i'm thinking
bios, the ver acording to hp is obsolete and that's why is not listed as a
previous ver on their site. All other listed ver are winflash, so I can't
update the bios. What I need is a way to open the winflash setup and copy
the bios to a floppy. Not quite sure how to do that, I know I did it once
before but I can't remember what i did.
My only other option is to load windowsME and do it from there, but I really
don't want to waste all that time.
Bill
