Default XP on top of Win 2000 pro

Hi all, I am hoping to upgrade my OS to XP soon but I am worried that
it might mess up the settings I already have on the PC, my internet
connection settings, any other peripherals scanner, etc.

I really rely on my PC for work, university study, keeping in touch
etc and if it got messed up I would be in real trouble.

The reason for the upgrade is that I bought a Canon EOS 30D camera and
Win 2000 does not see it at all, and I have been told that XP will
recognise it straight away.

Regards Alan

Did you check the Canon website to see if they have Win2K drivers
available??

If you can not find a Win2K driver on the Canon website use a backup program
like Acronis True Image (retail) or XXClone (freeware) to copy your existing
hard drive over to either another hard drive or to CD's. Just be sure to
make the restoral boot disk the programs suggest or you will have trouble
restoring the archived data. I'm sure others can suggest different programs
to accomplish this if you don't like either of these.

That way if the upgrade goes badly you will be able to restore things to
what they were prior to the disaster.

Use the following link..

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SuprtKnowledgeBaseAct&fcategoryid=226&modelid=12929

It states Win 2000 is supported.

That's usually true if you're migrating from the Windows 9x base (e.g.,
Windows 95/98/98SE/ME), but upgrading a Windows NT base (e.g., Windows 2000)
to Window XP is almost always successful.
