Default authentication setting for sending

How do I enable authentication for SENDING email from Eudora to Verizon.net.

Verizon.net's smtp server requires authentication, but the only authentication
settings I see in my Eudora 4.2.2 is for incoming mail.

I'm not sure about what things were like in 4.2.2., but:

In 5.x, the setting is in each Personality's properties box, right below
"SMTP Server". If it's there, check "Authentication Allowed".
If not, maybe that's the reason you needed for an upgrade... ;>

I second that last sentiment. I believe for authentication problems you
may really need such an upgrade to the latest Anyway, here are 2 links
to Daniel Jacobson's pages:

http://users.myexcel.com/djacobson/internet/faq004.htm#eudora5x

It's up to you to figure out how that would work in 4.2.2, if it can.
Sorry!
