I installed Beta 6 with no problems, and used it successfully for a day.
Then all attempts to get mail gave an error message about error 11001. I
reinstalled, no change. Switched to my 5.2 version, same problem. Settings
appear to be correct. Any suggestions?

I checked that, but the thing is more misterious. It changed within a day,
and I am not aware of changing any settings. Here is a section of
eudora.log around the point of failure:

I suspect that the lines about network address may be a hint. None of my
other programs are having DNA problems.
