Copy to? or Transfer to?

"Copy to" will place a copy of the message in a folder and leaving it in
the original folder (ie your inbox), while "transfer to" will move it
into the specified folder.

Also, use *Skip Rest* and the end of each of your filters when the
message should go no further? This skips all the rest of the filters,
otherwise it takes the action you have provided and keeps on going
down the list of filters in order from top to bottom. Therefore,

as the last action. Most filters should have this as their last

The answer was to search for just one work in each filter - then it is OK

I am still not clear on how to specify a list of words - A or B or C or
etc

That's what regular expressions are there for. Try

Subject
matches regexp (case insensitive) (word1|word2|phrase number 3|word4)
Transfer To -> Trash

Use "matches regexp (case insensitive)". Use the pipe, |, (above the \)
meaning "or" between the words; debt|weight|any word/phrase
If there are any spaces (debt | weight |any word/phrase), the filter checks
for those also. Remember that the filter is looking for those letters/spaces
in sequence, beginning, middle or end.
