I believe this may have been covered previously but after receiving an
e-mail that tried to download and went on for ages without success I
now get the out of contents message. Let Eudora rebuild table, click
ok and I get illegal operation message and Eudora shuts down.
Opened Eudora again and table of contents message appears and we go
round in circles.
I hope someone can bail me out please.

Find the spool file for the personality involved
[\Eudora\spool\personality - with the dominant personality in the root
of \spool, and I think they have *.spv or *.spf extensions, don't have
anything to check - just don't delete the lmos.dat file] and delete
it. Whatever is hanging you up is hung up in the spool file, if you
can find it. It is a temp file normally deleted after all mail has
been downloaded and put in the Inbox or wherever your filters direct.
