If you have problems with incorrect date headers, try leaving your
mailboxes unsorted. That way the new messages will show up in the order
received and you won't miss them. If you need to sort on something for a
while, just turn off sorting when you're done with it and additional new
messages will always be findable.
You might also want to ask this friend to check her time and time zone
settings. Problems of that sort are usually problems with the user's
settings not with the location of the server. The date header normally
uses both the time zone and the time from the same place, so it shouldn't
matter that she is in one time zone and the server is in another. The time
and time zone should either be coming from her computer or from the
service provider's computer. There are rare systems that don't do that
though, and they are very annoying. I have a friend who sends email from
work. She is in Britain, but all the company's mail goes through the main
company server in the US. For years her messages were all going out with
the time from her computer and the time zone from the server. Her company
finally installed software that behaved better though, thank goodness.
I just left the mailboxes that her mail went to unsorted which mostly took
care of the problem.
