I am attempting to install Exchange 2003 on a new server
linking back to my Exchange 5.5 server on an NT4 box. I
have successfully installed ADC and done all of the
preparations as outlined in the Exchange Server 2003
Deployment Guide.

I am at the step in the installation of Exchange itself
where it asks for the Service Account information. It has
populated the account name (Domain\account) and leaves the
Domain entry blank. I can't change those settings. The
only entry I can make is the password. The account is one
of the Exchange Service Accounts on the 5.5 server. When
I enter the password for that account I get the following
popup: "This account must be valid before continuing"

Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can do next? I
have made sure the accounts are active on both the NT and
W2K3 domains.

Does you trust environment work? Have you verified name resolution (WINS
and DNS)?

The Trusts are working and I can work with names via both
wins and dns.

What other things shoudl I check?

From the server you're installing on, can you access the administrative
shares of the 5.5 server using the same service account specified?
