401.1 is a logon failed error, meaning the account doesn't exist or the
password is wrong. Are you accessing the content anonymously? Is the IUSR
account configured correctly?

I'm pretty sure it is..yes, I'm trying to access it anonymously...Could
you give me some things to check? I'm going crazy. Thanks for

Make sure the IUSR password specified in the IIS MMC matches the one for the
account.

if you want to trace the account activity, just set a trace on failled
account connections.

Hi Mark,

Make sure the account you have specified as the anonymous account (by
default, the IUSR_machinename account) has the Log On Locally policy.
Also, you will want to make sure that the password set at the OS level for
the account is the same password as is being referenced in the IIS
metabase. For information on how to check this, have a look at this
