Hey there,
We're contemplating a smaller LCS 2005 deployment (< 2,000 users) and I have a question about the different servers roles with the new version. My questions are: - Is it possible to combine the roles of Director Server and Front-end (Home) server on the same physical machine? - If exposing the IM service externally (for remote users), can the Access Proxy Server just be an existing proxy server or is it a special LCS server role? eg. Could we use our existing MS ISA firewall/proxy server to reverse proxy the LCS service and expose it? Or is it a special function that's normally performed by a dedicated LCS machine? I've read the MS architecture guide, and it's very good, but as they're dealing with an 80,000+ seat deployment, the specifics are fairly different. Any help would be appreciated. Hello James,
LCS 2005 is still in Beta; if you are a participant in the beta program you need to post your question in the appropriate private newsgroup. Otherwise, it would not be appropriate to make forward looking statements.
