Default 64 bit XP

Anyone here running the 64 bit edition of Windows XP?

I've just added it to my machine , dual booting with the 32 bit version for
now and so far it seems ok.
Installation was painless once I'd found an old floppy drive to be able to
add the drivers for my SATA ports on the motherboard and it picked up all
the other hardware straight off.
The first few bits of software have all installed just fine.
Tomorrow I'll try running some processor intensive stuff on both version and
see if there is any difference

Yes, no problems, stable.

No Canon drivers though (and won't be any), so can't use my newish
scanner.

Yup.
I've got both versions now so it looks like I'll have to keep the old one.

I've just had a bit of a search round , and managed to track some down for
my printer (ip3000)
They aren't available on the uk site , but a google search managed to locate
them.

Maybe there will be some for your scanner as well.

The odd thing is that the cd-label print software tells me that there are no
supported printers installed as it obviously doesn't recognise the 64 bit
drivers

Thanks, Alex, I'll have a Google :-)

I contacted Canon who emailed me and said they do not intend to provide
64 bit drivers for any scanners, except for an A3 model if I remember
correctly.

My latest bizarre discovery is that you can't click on links in outlook
express.
Well , you can click on links but you just get a blank iE window with no
address :0/

Probably MS' latest attempt to make it more secure.

There are now a lot of Cannon drivers including IP3000 etc.

I suggest you jump on over to microsoft.public.windos.64bit.general to get
the most up to date facts.

Most help desk operators know little if anything about Windows 64 bit, so
don't be surprised when a vendor has them and they say No.
