98 will not boot

Scandisk won't fix registry errors, scanreg is used to restore a good
working registry from the backup set.
Boot to DOS by hitting the F8 key and choose command prompt from the
menu, then type the following command:
scanreg /restore
select a date from prior to your registry problem.
