Karen,

I see two main possibilities. One is that the driver is indeed
faulty or not perfectly compatible with the operating system. In
this case all users of the same hardware and driver should have
this problem.

The other is that you have a hardware problem. The motherboard
could be faulty or the memory. I would run a RAM test program,
just to be on the safe side.

If you built the computer yourself, this is one of the risks you
always bear. If you bought it, your recourse is the dealer.
