Default Calendar Scheduling

I had a user report the problem below and I do not see a
way to turn this off within outlook so I was wondering if
there were any other solutions to this problem.

'I schedule meetings that sometimes have a long list of
attendees (often the list covers the globe)(scheduling
tab). I also am invited to meetings that have a long list
of attendees. When I try to open such a meeting item in
my Outlook Calendar, it can take minutes to open
(especially the Scheduling tab). I'm guessing that the
system is looking up the schedules of other attendees. Is
there a way to turn off this behavior so the meeting item
opens rapidly and does not appear to lock up Outlook? If
it is possible, what are the pros and cons and can it be
quickly turned off or on while running Outlook'.
'There are other leaders of networks who are seeking a
solution to this problem'.
