Default Can desktop icons be moved to tray?

With W2000, desktop icons can be dragged and dropped into
a section immediately to the right of the start button.
NT doesn't seem to have one of these. I have a shortcut
to a Word do***ent template that I need to have quickly
accessible without going back to the desktop every time.
Can I move it to the tray where the clock, volume speaker,
etc. are located? If not, can I move it to a Word
toolbar? I've tried dragging to Word toolbar, but it
won't go. Please respond via e-mail.

Thanks to anyone who can help.
