We're testing our deployment server, and I'm having
problems enabling guest access on the new server.

Server configuration:
Windows Server 2003
MCMS 2002 SP1

After installing MCMS, I deployed the code for the site,
then exported the CMS content from the development server
and imported it onto the deployment server. Using SCA, I
configured guest access to the site using the Internet
guest account on the machine. I created a subscribers
rights group, added the Internet guest account to the
rights group, and configured the rights group to have
access to the appropriate channels, resources, and
templates. I also removed the line in the web.config file
that includes the CMSAuthorizationModule.

I can access the site content from the local machine
using localhost in the URL. When I attempt to access
content from any other machine, I get a request to
authenticate, and I receive a 401.1 error if I don't
supply credentials.

How should I proceed?

Hi Tom,

did you ensure that anoymous access is enabled on the website in IIS MMC?
Did you check the IIS logs? Is there an account logged for the localhost
accesses?
If yes, then also in this situation the credentials are requested but
automatically satisfied by IE.
