Hi,

I'm having a problem logging into a remote machine (XP) using RDC. I can
connect to the machine but when I get to the login screen it keeps saying
that the system can't log me on and to check my username and password.

All settings are correct, everything enabled, ports forwarded, firewall
allowing connections. Also, if I try and connect from a machine within the
local network I get the same thing.

Any ideas? Thanks

Positive on that message?
User that you are attempting to utilize is a member of the "Remote Desktop
Users" group?
If in a domain - are you making sure you are specifying said domain?

Yes. user is a member of the remote users group and that is the message.
Their is no domain just a workgroup.

Are you using the correct UserID and password? The account must have a
password. You also might try creating a different/new account and password,
adding it to the Remote Desktop Users Group and trying again.

Well, as it turns out, the free dns service doesn't allow for more than one
connection at the same on the same network. Of course, nowhere in their
documentation does it say that despite searching for an answer.

I, just for the hell of it decided to use the username and password for the
other machine and worked, but on a different machine. It didn't matter what
the hostname was.
