Client Problem - XP machines show "npt needed" for all updates

We have installed WSUS on a 2003 Server.
About 500 windows 2000 sp4 machines are working great.
Our 10 or so XP SP2 machines show up on the WSUS server, but after reporting
the first time, they show all updates as "not needed", even though the
updates are not installed on the machine.
