Hi,

Just wanted to know if any of you have attempted to customize the BizDesk,
by doing the changes in the ASP code ?

Although I myself am very new to Commerce Server and thus don't have a lot
of great insight, my associate here implemented a lot of the BizDesk
functionality in a windows application.

We are using Commerce Server 2002 so the new code was all in .NET using the
CommerceServer.Runtime classes, and if necessary, the CommerceServer.Interop
classes (which seem to be wrappers for the old COM components??). The
desktop application simply called several web services residing the web


Also, if you're using Commerce Server 2002, have you looked into Feature
Pack 1? I hear there is a much better interface for part of the BizDesk
application (i.e. Discounts for one).

Finally, I guess it matters what exactly you are trying to accomplish by a
re-write. People might be able to offer opinions if they knew what in
general you were after, i.e. what parts of the functionality to re-write and
why.

I've made a few small changes to BizDesk, on a CS2000-based application, but
it wasn't fun. A lot of the BizDesk functionality, in CS2000, uses
client-side XML islands, and sometimes it's really tough to figure out
what's going on. I abandoned some of the changes I wanted to make because it
just wasn't practical to invest the time it would have taken to figure out
how to implement them.
