Error 6118
I am setting up a LAN using WINME and WIN95 by connecting
a crossover cable between two NICs. For internet connection
I have a Y-split to the two modems from the phone line.
This way one machine at a time can be connected to the
internet.
All I want to do (when not on internet) is printer and file
sharing. Each machine has its own name belonging to one
workgroup name. For DUN and the NICS I have defined two
separate TCP/IP drivers in each machine; the master
browser is disabled in
WIN95 and set to "automatic" in WINME.
PING works bothways satisfactorily.
I cannot use Network Neighborhood. On using the command
net view /workgroup:<workgroup name> on WINME, it works
OK and two server names belonging to the workgrou are
listed.
If I try the same command on WIN95, I get the following
response after a long pause:
Error 6118: The computer(s) sharing resources in this
workgroup cannot be located.------
I did not have the files "protman.exe" and "protman.dos"
in WIN95. I copied the files from WINME and transferred
those to c:\windows\system directory of WIN95.
That did not help.
Any idea about what I am doing wrong?
Thanks.
A.M.
