Default Extreamly slow boot up Win 98se

I just installed a new motherboard AMD XP2600+ cpu and 512
Meg RAM. It takes at least 5 minutes or nore to boot up
once it hits the logo screen. The blue bar moves VERY VERY
Slow. Does anyone have an idea how correct this?

One booted, the system runs fast and runs fine.

Thanks for your help!!!

Create a bootlog by tapping the F8 key @ bootup. Choose create bootlog from
the menu which appears. Then download a program called bla.exe from the
following link:
http://www.ocinside.de/html/links/ocsoft_links.html
Run bla.exe and open the bootlog.txt file which was created in C:\. Click
on the "Show delays" and "Show failures". Post back with all entries which
are longer then 1 second.

Hey Harvey,
Just a shot in the dark...I have had problems with
mobo's with built in LAN's (network cards), and have had
some problems with installed network cards. If you are not
using it, disable it, usually through a jumper on the
motherboard and give it a shot.

Not that my circumstance is the same as yours, but my
win98 is also very slow. I did take the advice of one of
your respondents - ie Boot Leg log and have been trying to
send it to him...TweakOholic-<notatmyhome> but no luck
with emailing at the above address. Any help. Big Nick

Hello Nick:

When replying to newsgroup posts, you should always post back to the
newsgroup and not the sender ( unless the sender asks you to send a reply
directly to him/her ). This way others can benefit from the info. and,
another support person can comment if bad advice is given or there is a
better solution.
