Default Fax Service in Windows Server 2003

We are now using the Windows Server 2003 Fax Service. We are having some
problems with outgoing faxes....

Sometimes it goes through..sometimes it doesn't. It always says "retry". I
think PART of the problem is the timeout to send a fax...I think we need to
turn it up.

The other question I have is whether there is any kind of special changes
that need to be made so that the receiving fax knows that there is a fax
machine sending. I know that some fax machines are only setup to answer
"faxes".

I hope this makes sense....

Thanks in advance for any help....

Eric,

What are you using for a modem? I ended up going to a Brooktrout 2 line fax
card. It wasn't cheap, $400 or $500, but it's reliable. It's also
supported by W2k3 out of the box so you don't have to install any extra
drivers. From time to time I have a fax that just won't go. I've found
it's usually the other end being busy, or a poor connection. As far as
special changes, there are none I know of.
