Hello,

i am trying to map a fixed length flatfile-field that contains blanks
to an optional xml-attribute. The attribute is non required and
shouldn't be there, if the flatfile-field is empty (contains blanks).
If there is any un-blank content in the filed, the attribute should
appear and contain the content.

Any idea ?

There is a functoid under "Logical" that is called "Exists". It
returns true if the input exists. Try connecting the input to it and
its output to the optional field in the output-specification. Remember
to also have a link between them.

By default, we don't maintain whitespaces after parsing. You can probably
also use String length functoid to do this in combination of logical
functoid.

On the source field specification, Parse tab, set Pad
Character to SPACE (0x20) -- this way, Biztalk will
consider blanks only as 'fillers' and not data.
