Default IE6SP1 & Tomcat : a more detailed scenario

Scenario:
Server -
OS = W2KSP3
IP = 81.72.241.146
Application server = Borland Application Server 4.5
Web Container = Tomcat 3.2.2
Web Application = a normal web application developed using JSP
under
JBuilder 5 Enterprise

You can test this scenario with this link :
http://81.72.241.146:8080/fad/index.html

It works perfectly with IE6PRESP1, Opera, Mozilla, Netscape.

The only one browser that is totally unable to show the page is
IE6SP1.

I used SnifferPro4.70.04 to test this scenario and this is the result:

- IE6SP1 loads only 99 HTML rows of the page (frame 5) and then
fragments the frame. The frames 7,9,13,15 (which should continue the
5th frame) give a "Window size exceeded" error.
- Mozilla and Opera loads the page perfectly and completely on frame
5.

WHY?

TIA, Moreno.

Can you make the redirect more differentiated?

What I see (assuming we are still using port 8080 to start with?) is:

<example>
GET http://81.72.241.146:8080/fad HTTP/1.1

HTTP/1.1
302 Found
Content-Type: text/html; charset=Cp1252
Location: http://81.72.241.146:8080/fad/index.html

GET http://81.72.241.146:8080/fad HTTP/1.1
</example>

So the question is: Is IE picking up *any* of that redirect
or just repeating its initial GET for some unknown reason?
BTW the same thing happens if I give it the slash to make
it clear that fad is a directory name.

Instead of the immediate failure that you imply I see 3 more retries
each time.

FWIW

I get a different error symptom for this one.

Trace shows that there are 4 tries each time. Then:

Title bar: Cannot find server - Microsoft Internet Explorer

If I don't close the IE window I get the additional oddity
in the Status bar of "Downloading from site: about:Blank"
Note: about:Blank happens to be my Home page
but I don't know if that is why it is being shown.
