Hi World,

I get this error in the MOM 2005 console frequently from one of the IIS
servers.

The Application Log Provider failed to retrieve IIS Metadata value (39).
Source: Internet Information Server web server log

Description: IIS Application Log - Web Server


I've checked and reset all the persmissions, but the error still happens.

Anyone got any ideas?

The AppLog provider is used to scan through IIS web site log files & produce
reports or look for suspicious activities. I scanned thru the IIS
mbschema.xml file to see what property 39 is, but there is no such prop. I'm

Incidently, this is an IIS6/W2k3 server w/Logging enabled, right?

I checked w/the MOM team, and as it turns out, this is effectively a benign
error. It happens when the AppLog provider attempts to read the metabase to
look for the LogFileDirectory & format (LogPluginClsID) for the sites, and
encounters a property that does not have a value. In this case, something is
setting Property 39, which isn't an IIS property.

Per the MOM team, this is a non-fatal event & should effectively be ignored.
