IIS Won't Start

when I right click the default site in the MMC and select start I get an
error message like this " The service did not respond to the start or
control request in a timely fashion. There is nothing in the event log
about this? I don't understand this becuase the FTP site is running?

Only www is not running ?

Do you have any special software install ?
firewall, antivirus, other web server ?

does it works before ? any changes ?

No that is not the only thing not running, the administration web
services wont start either? And yes there is a anti virus software
program on the server but how would that effect anything? I appreciate
your help!
