Remove ASP.NET Framework 3.0 and ASP.NET Framework 2.0. (in that order) and
everything else that is there.

(If possible remove the Applications Server role and then re-install it)

Then you should have only ASP.NET 1.0 support.

Install *only* ASP.NET Framework 3.0.

(ASP.NET 2.0 ought now to be set but check it anyway).

Now the WSS 3.0 installation should hopefully be OK.
