Install screwup - need help desparately
Hi, folks.
Short story is this: I used the wrong installation disc while trying to
install Win2k-Server-SP3 on my laptop. I absent-mindedly pulled the wrong
set of discs out of my software carrier and was into the install before I
realized it. These have no serial no!
Even though there was a cancel button, the install didn't rollback (well, it
couldn't because I had reformatted my hd as part of the install process).
Anyway, the cancelation simply rebooted my machine, then reinitiated the
install again.
I've tried everything, even tried to install various other OS's on bootup,
but nothing works. It always goes right back to that install process.
There's obviously a flag set somewhere telling it that it's in the middle of
an install and ignores anything (autorun, exe, etc.) in my CD drive. I even
changed the boot sequence to first try my CD drive, but that didn't work
either.
So, it seems to me the only way around this is to acquire a valid serial no.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Better yet, does anyone have a key
generator for win2k-server-sp3? I've looked on various newsgroups and asked
there, but no one has responded to me yet.
Any help with this disaster would be greatly appreciated. I'm getting quite
desparate.
Much thanks in advance to anyone able to help me with this.
