Default Laserjet printing on 2003 Server Terminal Service Client

My network is a 2003 Server with a XP home box connecting
to it via Terminal Services.

Both boxes have Laserjet 1000 USB printers installed. The
XP home box has a Text line printer installed on a LPT
port. All printers operate ok locally

When the XP box is connected via terminal services to the
2003 server I can print on the LPT printer via the
application and via any windows program on the XP's TS
session. But I cannot print to the Laserjet installed on
the XP box. The TS Session shows an error and when i
switch to the local session the printer status shows the
job spooling. HP said I need a "network" printer ... i
think this should work ok as it's set up.

I have updated the 2003 server driver to the 2003 specific
driver via HP's site.

Suggestions!!

AFAIK, you can't use USB printers in terminal services. If you have the
option to switch to an Ethernet connected printer, or parallel, do it.

Per atricle:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;294429&Product=winsvr2003

Microsoft implies you can use USB printers:
"The list of local printers (COM, LPT, and USB) on the
client is enumerated from the registry."

So back to the original question:
What's wrong??

If you have the

parallel, do it.
