Load balancing Web Servers
Yes this is possible to host load balance multiple web sites on a single
NLB cluster. The first question that comes to mind is are you going to use
multiple virtual IP addresses, one for each site, or are you going to use
just a single IP address?
NLB is capable of load balancing multiple virtual IP addresses, however in
Windows 2000 any rules you set up via the NLB configuration apply to all
virtual IP addresses (any IP that is bound to the adapter that is not
specified as the dedicated IP is virtual for NLB). If you do not use
multiple IP addresses you will have to use host headers in IIS to
differentiate the sites so they can be properly served.
