Hi Steve,

Follow the directions to enable fast user switching (i.e. the Welcome
screen) in this article:

If that doesn't work, try posting to a general Windows XP newsgroup. Because
this newsgroup is focused on Windows Update, you
are more likely to find a solution, faster, in a newsgroup specific to
Windows XP. You can find a list of newsgroups via your news reader,
such as Outlook Express, or this link:

http://microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/default.mspx.

You may also find a solution in the Knowledge Base at
http://support.microsoft.com.
