Default login issues

Hi all,

We have a number of management reports that are being run in excel, not very
happy about this but have no viable alternative at the moment, these consist
of pivot tables which log in using a sql server account. The problem with
this is these cause locking issues and sql server does not show which
machine is currently running the report, except for the mac address. What I
want to do is use a Windows NT user group and trusted login, so I can see
who is running the report.

I have set this up and it works fine, but it is a lot slower than using the
sql server login.

Why is this? Is there anything I do about it to allow me to use trusted
logins?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Regards

There should be no speed difference between a SQL login and an NT one. Are
you sure nothing else was changed? You should have been able to see the
machine or host names under the SQL Login using sp_who2 or Enterprise
Manager. You can also use profiler to get more information.
