Default memory allocation too low yet have unallocated GB

i recently formatted and reloaded winxp. i must have partitioned drives c &
D incorrectly. i receive an error message telling me that my memory is too
low and consequently can not load/install anything on c: i have 55.25 GB of
unallocated space while c: has only 2GB(fat) of space with 1.99 already
used. also i have 15 MB (ntfs) of space on a local disk called new volume?
HELP PLEASE! I am all confused and way out of my league and realize i should
have a pro fix it , but where i live the pros (at least those i can afford)
usually just charge me money to replace my good parts for theirs which are
out dated or something who knows?

It's not a part that needs fixed. You've obviously misconfigured your
drive partitioning, as you suggested you might have done.

The /only/ fix for this nightmare is to repartition, reformat, and
reload Windows XP. It would appear that when you installed XP you only
created a 2GB partition -- which is not enough to run Windows XP.

Hint... make ONE C: partition using the maximum amount of space
available and don't try to get involved in partitioning the drive.

Note: You could also purchase a copy of PartitionMagic, install it, and
extend the C: drive to it's full capacity, but, alas, you have no space on
the C: drive to install any extra software. So that's not a functional
option at this moment.
