Default Multi-server Workgroup install of MOSS 2007

Hi all,

I have 2 servers in a workgroup configuration (no domain). One server has a
SQL 2005 on it, the other is configured as a web server. I'm trying to
install MOSS 2007 on them in a "farm" configuration, so the DB is dunning on
the SQL 2005 server and the web and app part is running on the web server.
After install on the web server I'm running the Configuration Wizard and it's
failing with the error "Failed to connect to the configuration database".
Even though I've looked everywhere and can't find any restrictions to a
"farm" install that is not on a domain, I'm starting to wonder if this type
of install is possible?

A couple of other things; I already have a web site on the web server using
the SQL server as it's backend DB so I know connectiviety isn't an issue. I
have configured the SQL surface area for both TCP/IP and named pipes. The
local admin account on both boxes is identical, and it's the account I'm
using for the MOSS install. Lastly, the SharePoint_Config and
SharePoint_AdminContent DB's were created during the config wizard operation.

Any thoughts on why this isn't working I'd love to hear.

Thanks!
Bob
