need help in setting up software update services
I'm setting up a software update services. I'm using the
deploying microsoft software update services do***ent
publish in january 2003. I'm using the confiuguration
option of non-active directory environment. But we already
have a active directory set up in our company but I
couldn't implement group policy in our OU because my
account is only a member of the server operators group. I
downloaded the SUS10SP1.exe file from microsoft and
updated my test client and test server to Service Pack 4.
I was able to successfully synchronize my test server with
microsoft update server at your site and successfully
downloaded the updates and patches and approve all the
patches and downloads. I configured the test client's
registry following the procedure stated in the DEPLOYING
THE AUTOMATIC UPDATES CLIENT VIA SELF-UPDATE SECTION and
CONFIGURATION OPTIONS IN A NON-ACTIVE DIRECTORY
ENVIRONMENT section. The result was the wuaueng.dll file
version was higher than 5.4.3630.2550, the automatic
update icon after I open it reveal a gray out option and
the client is querying the sus server(I think he is
querying it) because it is showing the automatic updates
ready to install dialog box. But after I click install it
doesn't download the patches and update log file located
in the clients %windir%\windows update.log is empty. Can
you please help me make the sus setup work. Can you email
me screen shoots on how the registry for the setup should
be configured and advice me what are the things I need to
do. Thanks.
